BUREAU OF IMMIGRATION started as a branch in the Bureau of Customs during the American regime in 1899. The Bureau was reverted, in 1948, to the Department of Defense’s jurisdiction up to this day. It was given the sole authority to enforce and administer Immigration and Foreign nationals registration laws including the admission, registration, exclusion and deportation and repatriation of foreign nationals.
